Abstract
The foundation of human society lies in the family structure, which is constructed through the formalization of marriage between a couple. Throughout the pages of history, various civilizations and religions have emphasized the significance of the partnership between a man and a woman, establishing rules and regulations from the marriage ceremony to the passing of either spouse. Islam, as a faith, provides extensive guidance on this matter, recognizing the inherent human desire for companionship and the pursuit of a virtuous and pure life. In general, Islam supports timely marriages after reaching adulthood, discouraging the trend of delayed unions. However, a contemporary Pakistani societal shift towards later marriages has surfaced, prompting discussions among social scientists and Muslim scholars. This paper explores the underlying reasons for this trend and proposes solutions under Islamic principles.
